Copy a prompt, open ChatGPT or Gemini, attach one clear photo of yourself, paste and send. For a girl’s birthday photo start with the midnight cake cutting or the balloon ceiling; for a boy’s, the birthday king on the wing chair or the cake on the car bonnet; for two of you, feeding cake at a candle-lit dinner. Put your age on a balloon as two digits, and keep any banner to HAPPY BIRTHDAY: numbers and those two words have come out right in every run we have published, and anything longer is where letters slip. 7 more birthday looks, each with its ChatGPT result, are in the library.
A birthday prompt is a short text instruction you paste into ChatGPT or Google Gemini together with your own photo to generate a birthday portrait: you in a party setting with a cake, balloons, sparklers or a banner, with your face kept the same. This page gives 16 copy-paste birthday prompts for girls, boys, couples and families, plus 7 more that already have ChatGPT results, and explains how to add your age without the text going wrong.
Pipgen hands-on test in ChatGPT, October 2026; search data from AhrefsWhat a birthday prompt is
A birthday prompt is a text instruction for an AI image editor. You attach a photo of yourself in ChatGPT or Gemini, paste the prompt, and the app returns you at a birthday: cutting a cake at midnight, under a ceiling of balloons, holding a sparkler on a rooftop, on a throne with gold confetti falling. People search for it a dozen ways, “birthday prompt”, “AI birthday prompt for girl”, “birthday prompt for boy”, “birthday prompt for Gemini”, “ChatGPT birthday photo prompt”, and they all mean this. About 28,000 of those searches a month come from India alone, according to Ahrefs, and unlike the decade trends they do not fade: someone has a birthday every day.
Two things decide whether a birthday edit works. The face has to stay yours, which every prompt here handles with the same three rules that kept 19 of 19 faces on our EditPro Tips page. And the text has to be right. In our published runs, a two-digit age on a balloon, a four-digit year and the words HAPPY BIRTHDAY on a sign or a poster have all rendered correctly, three times out of three for the banner, and a short name held too; full messages are where the letters slip. So the prompts put the number on a balloon, allow one HAPPY BIRTHDAY, and keep every other word off the picture.
What is on this page
16 birthday prompts written for this page: six for a woman’s photo, six for a man’s, three for two people, and one cartoon style, with the age-on-a-balloon trick built in. They are ours; we are not republishing any creator’s prompt. We ran every one in ChatGPT on the date shown, pasted verbatim with one of our two reference photos (AI-generated test personas, not real people), in a new chat each time, keeping the first output. Every result is under its prompt, misses included. Then a library of 7 more birthday looks from our other pages, each already run in ChatGPT with the first output published. We test in ChatGPT only; every prompt runs in Gemini as well.
How to use a birthday prompt in ChatGPT or Gemini
Photo in, birthday photo out
- Pick a look below and tap Copy.
- Open ChatGPT or Gemini and start a new chat.
- Attach one clear, front-facing photo. For the couple looks, one photo with both of you in it, or one clear photo of each of you in the same message.
- Change the number. Every prompt that shows an age says 25; replace it with yours before you send. Two digits only.
- Paste and send. Check the face and the number first. If the face is not you, regenerate or try the other app.
- New look, new chat. Chat apps carry details from one image into the next.
Free plan limits: ChatGPT’s free plan allows only a few images a day, and the number moves with demand; Gemini’s free tier has a daily cap too. Pick your look before you spend one. What each free tool allows is in our free generators guide.
Birthday prompts for girls
“AI birthday prompt for girl” and “birthday prompt for girl” are the two biggest sub-searches, about 8,000 a month between them. These six are written for a woman’s photo; most swap to a man’s with a change of outfit. The pastel balloon wall and the neon-sign night, the two most-copied girl looks, are already tested on our girl prompts page and sit in the library below.
1. Midnight cake cutting with friends
Turn the uploaded photo into a midnight birthday photo of me cutting my cake: a pastel satin party dress, a knife in my hand on a white cream cake with lit candles, friends' hands holding up phones and a sparkler around the edges of the frame, fairy lights and a few balloons in a dim living room behind me, the candle glow and phone screens as the main light on my face, photographed from across the table, my face sharp, no readable text. Keep my face exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
“Friends’ hands” rather than “friends” keeps the model from inventing six new faces to go wrong. If you want people, say “blurred behind me”.
↑ All looks2. Princess birthday under a HAPPY BIRTHDAY banner
Turn the uploaded photo into a princess-style birthday portrait of me: a small crystal tiara, a pale pink satin gown with puffed sleeves, holding a bouquet of white roses in both hands, a gold foil banner above me reading HAPPY BIRTHDAY in capital letters and nothing else, pink and gold balloons and soft curtains behind, warm even light from the front, my face sharp, no other text anywhere. Keep my face exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
The one prompt here that asks for words. HAPPY BIRTHDAY has rendered correctly in all three of our earlier runs that showed it, on a neon sign, a poster and once unasked; keep “and nothing else” in the prompt, because a second line is where it goes wrong.
↑ All looks3. Rooftop sparkler with 25 balloons
Turn the uploaded photo into a rooftop birthday photo of me at night: a black sequin dress, holding a lit sparkler in one hand and a small cupcake with a candle in the other, gold foil number balloons reading 25 tied to the railing behind me, string lights and a city skyline out of focus, the sparkler and the lights as the only light on my face, photographed from in front of me, my face sharp, no other text anywhere. Keep my face exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
Change 25 to your age. Two digits on a balloon is the form these apps get right every time; our editing page’s 25 and our EditPro Tips page’s 2027 both rendered exactly.
↑ All looks4. Birthday picnic in a flower field
Turn the uploaded photo into a golden-hour birthday picnic photo of me: sitting on a checked blanket in a field of yellow wildflowers, a white floral sundress and a straw hat beside me, a small strawberry cake with one lit candle on a wooden board in front of me and a bouquet of daisies in my lap, warm low sun from one side with a soft glow, photographed from a few steps in front of me at my eye level, my face sharp, no text. Keep my face exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
5. Balloon ceiling portrait
Turn the uploaded photo into a birthday portrait of me under a ceiling completely covered in pastel pink, white and gold balloons with ribbons hanging down, a white off-shoulder dress, both hands raised to catch falling gold confetti, a soft-pink wall behind me, bright even light, the camera at my eye level in front of me, my face sharp, no text. Keep my face exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
The balloon wall, the other half of this look, is prompt 6 on our girl prompts page, where ChatGPT kept the face.
↑ All looks6. Birthday morning: breakfast in bed
Turn the uploaded photo into a birthday-morning photo of me: sitting up in bed in striped cotton pyjamas, a wooden tray on my lap with a cupcake topped by one lit candle, a mug of coffee and a small gift box, a few pastel balloons drifting against the ceiling, soft morning light from a window at one side, a cosy white bedroom, photographed from the foot of the bed, my face sharp, no text. Keep my face exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
Birthday prompts for boys
“AI birthday prompt for boy” is the single biggest sub-search at about 4,500 a month. The number-balloon shoot and the film-hero poster are already on our boy prompts page; these six are the other looks men keep asking for, including the wing-chair throne that has its own search.
7. Cake smash
Turn the uploaded photo into a birthday cake-smash photo of me: laughing with white cream cake smeared across one cheek and my chin and down the front of a plain black T-shirt, a half-crushed cake on the table in front of me, a friend's hand still pushing it at the edge of the frame, balloons and streamers in a living room behind, bright flash from in front of me, my face sharp under the cream, no text. Keep my face and facial hair exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
“My face sharp under the cream” is the line that matters: the cream is an effect, and effects are where faces drift.
↑ All looks8. Birthday king on the wing chair
Turn the uploaded photo into a birthday-king portrait of me: sitting on a dark green velvet wing chair with my legs crossed and one hand on the armrest, a black suit with a white shirt, a small gold crown, gold and black balloons on either side, gold confetti falling, a dark studio with a single warm spotlight on me, photographed from in front of me at eye level, my face sharp, no text anywhere. Keep my face and facial hair exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
The wing chair with a name on the backrest is a trend of its own. We leave the name off because names are where lettering fails; if you want it, add “my name RAJ in gold letters on the backrest”, keep it short, and check every letter.
↑ All looks9. Cake on the car bonnet at night
Turn the uploaded photo into a night birthday photo of me sitting on the bonnet of a black car with no badges, a cake with lit candles on the bonnet beside me, a white shirt with the sleeves rolled and dark jeans, one hand resting on my knee and the other holding a sparkler, friends blurred behind the car, street lights and the car headlights as the light, photographed from in front of the car, my face sharp, no readable text. Keep my face and facial hair exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
10. Birthday with my dog
Turn the uploaded photo into a birthday photo of me and my dog: sitting on a grey sofa with a golden retriever wearing a small paper party hat beside me, my arm around the dog, a small cake with one lit candle on the coffee table in front of us, a few balloons and a string of fairy lights behind, warm indoor light, photographed from in front of the sofa at my eye level, my face sharp, no text. Keep my face and facial hair exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
Swap the breed for yours. The pet-and-owner portrait without the birthday is on our trending page.
↑ All looks11. Black kurta, candle-lit cake, cinematic
Turn the uploaded photo into a cinematic birthday portrait of me: a black kurta, sitting at a dark table with a chocolate cake covered in lit candles in front of me, both hands resting on the table, the candles as the only light so my face is lit warm from below with the room black around me, a 2.39:1 widescreen frame with me off-centre, fine grain, photographed from across the table, my face sharp, no text. Keep my face and facial hair exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
It came back square here too, as it did for the widescreen prompt in our EditPro Tips test; ChatGPT treats 2.39:1 as a suggestion. Crop it afterwards, or run the prompt in Gemini.
↑ All looks12. 3D cartoon birthday character
Redraw the uploaded photo as a stylised 3D cartoon character, not a photograph: large expressive eyes, slightly enlarged head, smooth skin with soft subsurface light, the same outfit and hairstyle as the photo, holding a birthday cake with lit candles in both hands, a party hat, confetti and balloons around me on a soft-blue studio backdrop, a clean high-quality render like a frame from an animated film, a medium shot, no text. Keep my likeness clearly recognisable — the same face shape, hairstyle and features as the uploaded photo, drawn in this style.
“Not a photograph” made this style work on our EditPro Tips page, but here the same wording came back as a near-real render. The style words are fighting the face-lock; if yours does the same, add “exaggerated cartoon proportions, like a character from an animated film” and regenerate.
↑ All looksCouple and family birthday prompts
Two faces are harder to keep than one, and a family means the model has to invent everyone you do not upload. Use one photo with both of you in it, and expect to regenerate once. More two-person looks are on our couple prompts page.
13. Feeding cake at a candle-lit dinner
Turn the uploaded photos into a birthday dinner photo of the two of us: sitting close at a small round table with a white cloth, my partner feeding me a piece of cake with a fork, a small cake with lit candles and two glasses on the table, I wear a dark red dress and my partner a black shirt, candles and fairy lights in a dim restaurant behind us, photographed from across the table, both faces sharp, no text. Keep both of our faces exactly the same as the uploaded photos — do not alter our facial features.
14. Surprise at the door
Turn the uploaded photos into a birthday-surprise photo of the two of us at our front door: my partner holding out a cake with lit candles and a bunch of balloons, I stand in the doorway with both hands on my cheeks in surprise, a warm hallway light behind me and evening light outside, confetti in the air, photographed from just inside the hallway, both faces sharp, no text. Keep both of our faces exactly the same as the uploaded photos — do not alter our facial features.
15. Family around the cake
Turn the uploaded photos into a family birthday photo: the two of us at the centre of a home dining table behind a large cake with lit candles, an older couple on one side and a small child on the other, all leaning in, balloons and a string of fairy lights on the wall behind, warm indoor light, photographed from the far side of the table, both of our faces sharp and exactly as in the photos, the other people's faces natural, no text. Keep both of our faces exactly the same as the uploaded photos — do not alter our facial features.
The two uploaded faces are the ones locked; the parents and the child are the model’s invention, convincing but nobody’s, so do not expect them to look like your family. To put real relatives in, attach everyone in one photo instead.
↑ All looksCartoon and Polaroid birthday looks
Two looks that are not photographs of a party: the 3D cartoon above, under the boys’ section, and this Polaroid collage.
16. Polaroid birthday collage
Turn the uploaded photo into a photo of three instant-film prints of me pinned to a cork board: one blowing out candles on a cake, one holding a bunch of balloons, one laughing with a party hat on, each print with a white border and slightly faded colour, a string of fairy lights and a few paper stars pinned around them, soft warm light, my face sharp and identical in all three, no writing on the borders. Keep my face exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
“No writing on the borders” stops the model captioning the prints with dates and names that come out garbled. In our run the three faces matched each other exactly, which is the hard part of this look.
↑ All looks7 more birthday prompts, each with its ChatGPT result
Seven birthday looks were already written and run in ChatGPT on our other prompt pages. Each tile is the real first output; tap Copy for the prompt or “Result & notes” for the full-size image and what the app got right and wrong.
Turn the uploaded photo into a birthday portrait of me: a pastel lilac midi dress with puffed sleeves, holding a small two-tier cake with lit candles, standing in front of a wall of balloons in lilac, peach and white with a few gold ones, soft even studio light, a joyful laugh, clean bright colours, sharp focus on my face and the candle flames. Keep my face exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
Turn the uploaded photo into a candid birthday-night photo of me: a deep emerald velvet dress with full sleeves, sitting at a table with a small cake topped by one sparkler candle, a pink neon sign on the brick wall behind me that reads 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY', fairy lights and a little confetti in the air, warm low light with a pink glow on my face, slight film grain, a surprised, happy smile. Keep my face exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
Edit the uploaded photo into a birthday photoshoot of me: posing beside a backdrop of black, gold and chrome-silver balloons, large gold foil number balloons reading [AGE] next to me, a black cake with gold drip icing and lit candles on a small marble table, a crisp white shirt under a black blazer, soft studio lighting, gold confetti drifting down, a big natural smile, clean premium colours. Keep my face exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
Turn the uploaded photo into a bold birthday poster starring me, in the style of an Indian film poster: a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, one hand in my pocket, a confident half-smile, a deep maroon background with rays of gold light and falling gold confetti, dramatic rim light around my shoulders, the title HAPPY BIRTHDAY [NAME] in large gold 3D letters across the bottom, a glossy poster finish. Keep my face exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
Edit the uploaded photo into a candid midnight birthday surprise: I am sitting up in bed in comfortable pyjamas, caught mid-laugh with my hands over my mouth as friends lean in from the edges of the frame carrying a cake with lit candles, their faces out of focus, fairy lights on the wall, the room dark except for the candles and a phone torch, a little flash blur, warm tones. Keep my face exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
Turn the uploaded photo into a birthday photo of me: a pastel party dress, holding a small frosted cake with lit candles in both hands, gold and pink balloons and a foil number balloon reading 25 behind me, paper streamers, confetti in the air, warm indoor light with the candle glow on my face, a friend's phone photo from across the table, my face sharp, no other text. Keep my face exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
Turn the uploaded photo into a 1980s instant-camera snapshot of my birthday party: me behind a cake with lit candles, paper streamers and balloons, a paper party hat, harsh on-camera flash against a dark background, slightly washed-out colours, the thick white border of an instant photo. Keep my face exactly the same as the uploaded photo — do not alter my facial features.
Adding your age, name or a message
What these apps get right, from our runs
| You want | Write | What we have seen |
|---|---|---|
| Your age | “gold foil number balloons reading 25” | Two digits rendered correctly every time: the 25 on our editing page, the 2027 on our EditPro Tips page |
| A year | “balloons reading 2027” | Four digits, correct |
| Your name | “my name RAJ in gold letters on the backrest”, three to five letters | “Rahul” rendered correctly on our boys’ poster; check every letter before posting |
| “Happy Birthday” | “a banner reading HAPPY BIRTHDAY and nothing else” | Correct in all three of our runs that showed it: a neon sign, a film-style poster and one the app added on its own |
| A full message | Do not. Add it in your caption or a photo editor afterwards | Sentences come out as near-English gibberish |
Whatever text you keep, end the prompt with “no other text anywhere”. Without it the model fills the background with invented signs and cards, and those are always wrong.
ChatGPT or Gemini for birthday prompts?
“Birthday prompt for Gemini” is its own search, and the answer is that every prompt here runs in both apps: ChatGPT on OpenAI’s GPT Image, Gemini on Google’s Nano Banana. First, what ChatGPT did with the 16 prompts on this page:
All 16 birthday prompts in ChatGPT, first output
| Result | Notes | |
|---|---|---|
| Faces kept in photo looks | 20 of 20 | Every solo look, all six faces in the couple and family looks, all three prints in the Polaroid collage |
| Likeness kept in the 3D cartoon | Yes | But it came back as a near-real render, not a cartoon (12) |
| Text | 2 of 2 | HAPPY BIRTHDAY on the banner (2); the 25 balloons (3) |
| Effects kept off the face | 2 of 2 | Cake smash (7), candlelight from below (11) |
| Missed an instruction | 2 | Square frame instead of 2.39:1 (11); cartoon style barely applied (12) |
| Drifted from the brief | 2 | Friends sharp instead of blurred (9); Polaroids not faded (16) |
| Added something unasked | 1 | A bowl of strawberries (4) |
Twenty faces kept, both pieces of text right, and the only real misses were a frame shape and a cartoon that stayed too real. From our 90-image benchmark, the two engines compare like this on what a birthday photo needs:
The two engines behind the apps
| What a birthday photo needs | GPT Image 2 (ChatGPT) | Nano Banana 2 (Gemini) |
|---|---|---|
| Portrait realism | 9.5 — best of 10 tools | 9.2 |
| Text (the number on the balloon) | 9.8 — best of 10 tools | 9.0 |
| Instruction-following (cake, candles, balloons, confetti in one prompt) | 9.2 | 9.5 — best of 10 tools |
| Overall average (9 prompts) | 9.4 | 9.4 |
Start with ChatGPT when the age is in the picture: it leads on text in the benchmark, and on this page it got the banner and the balloons right first time. Try Gemini for the couple and family looks: in our prompt seen test it kept both faces in four of five couple edits to ChatGPT’s three. If one app misses, run the same prompt in the other.
When a birthday photo goes wrong
- The face is not mine. Use a sharper, front-facing photo, keep “my face sharp” and the face-lock line as the last sentence, and regenerate. For cake smash and candle looks, add “my face untouched by the effect”.
- The frame is square when you asked for widescreen. ChatGPT did this on the candle-lit look here and on our EditPro Tips page. Crop it afterwards, or run the prompt in Gemini.
- The number is wrong. Keep it to two digits on a balloon and write “no other text anywhere”. If it still slips, change the wording to “a gold 2 balloon and a gold 5 balloon side by side”.
- It invented a crowd of strange faces. Write “friends’ hands at the edges of the frame” or “friends blurred behind me” instead of “friends”.
- A photographer or phone appeared in the picture. You described the camera as a person. Write “photographed from in front of me”.
- The cake looks fake. Name it: “a white cream cake with strawberries” beats “a birthday cake”.
- Everything is too bright and flat. Say where the light comes from: candles, a sparkler, fairy lights, a window. The prompts above each name one.
Before you upload your photo
- Use the official apps. A prompt is plain text; you do not need a birthday-prompt site or app that asks for your photo. ChatGPT and Gemini let you delete uploads and opt out of model training.
- Only edit people who said yes. A surprise birthday edit of a friend is a lovely gift and still their face; ask first.
- Think twice about children’s photos. The family look here invents the child on purpose. Once a real child’s photo is uploaded, you have less control over where their face ends up than over your own.
- Post it as what it is. Gemini images carry an invisible SynthID watermark and ChatGPT images carry content credentials; say it is AI in the caption anyway.
Frequently asked questions
What is a birthday prompt?
A birthday prompt is a text instruction you paste into ChatGPT or Google Gemini with your own photo attached, telling the app to turn it into a birthday portrait: you with a cake, balloons, sparklers or a banner, in a party setting, with your face kept the same. The prompts on this page are ready to copy.
What is the best AI birthday prompt for a girl?
Start with the midnight cake cutting or the balloon ceiling on this page, or the pastel balloon wall and neon-sign night on our girl prompts page, both already run in ChatGPT with the face kept. Change the outfit words to suit you and keep the face-lock line at the end.
What is the best AI birthday prompt for a boy?
The birthday king on the wing chair and the cake on the car bonnet are the two most-asked-for looks; the number-balloon shoot and the film-hero poster are on our boy prompts page with ChatGPT results.
Do birthday prompts work in Gemini?
Yes. Every prompt on this page runs in Google Gemini on its Nano Banana model as well as in ChatGPT. Attach your photo in a new Gemini chat, paste the prompt and send. We publish results from ChatGPT only; in our side-by-side prompt seen test Gemini kept both faces in couple edits slightly more often, and ChatGPT led on text such as the age on a balloon.
How do I add my age to a birthday photo prompt?
Put it on a balloon as two digits: “gold foil number balloons reading 25”, then “no other text anywhere”. Two-digit numbers rendered correctly in every run we have published, and so did HAPPY BIRTHDAY on a sign or poster. Keep full messages off the picture and add them in your caption afterwards.
Can I put my name in the birthday photo?
Short names usually work: “my name RAJ in gold letters on the backrest” with three to six letters; “HAPPY BIRTHDAY Rahul” rendered correctly on our boys’ poster. Check every letter before posting, and write “no other text anywhere” so the model does not add more.
How do I make a birthday photo in ChatGPT?
Open a new chat in ChatGPT, attach one clear front-facing photo of yourself, paste a prompt from this page with the age changed to yours, and send. ChatGPT returns the image in the chat; download it from there. Start a new chat for each new look.
Can I make a couple or family birthday photo?
Yes. The couple and family prompts above take one photo with both of you in it, or one clear photo of each person in the same message. The family look invents the relatives around you on purpose; to include real family, attach everyone in one photo instead.
Birthday prompt kaise use kare?
Prompt copy karo, ChatGPT ya Gemini mein nayi chat kholo, apni ek saaf front-facing photo attach karo, prompt mein 25 ki jagah apni age likho, paste karke send karo. Aakhri line “keep my face exactly the same” mat hatao. In English: copy a prompt, attach one clear photo in a new chat, change 25 to your age, paste and send, and keep the face-lock line.
Are these birthday prompts free?
Yes. Every prompt here is free to copy, change and use. ChatGPT and Gemini both have free plans that include image generation, with a daily limit on how many images you can make.
Is it safe to upload my photo for a birthday prompt?
Use the official ChatGPT and Gemini apps, where you can delete uploads and opt out of model training. Avoid unknown prompt sites or apps that ask you to upload your photo to them; the prompt is only text and works in the official apps.
